Shia LaBeouf as Cody Maverick, Zooey Deschanel as Lani Aliikai, and Jon Heder as Chicken Joe star in this animated mockumentary set in the coldest place on Earth, where Cody Maverick is a young penguin with dreams of becoming a champion surfer like his idol, the legendary Big Z (Jeff Bridges). When Cody gets the chance to compete in the 'Big Z Memorial Surf Contest' on Pen Gu Island, he's determined to prove himself to the surfing community, especially the arrogant champion Tank Evans (Diedrich Bader). Along the way, Cody befriends the laid-back surfer Chicken Joe (Jon Heder), a beautiful lifeguard penguin named Lani Aliikai (Zooey Deschanel), and a washed-up surf instructor named Geek (Jeff Bridges), who teaches him that the true meaning of surfing isn't about winning trophies.
